Muse Bio is conducting groundbreaking research on menstrual blood-derived stem cells (MenSCs) — a promising, non-invasive source for regenerative medicine. Our technology allows for reliable collection, isolation and preservation of stem cells derived from menstrual blood using a simple at-home process.
We're investigating how menstrual blood could serve as an accessible and inclusive source for future stem cell therapies. Your participation will help us understand:
Cell viability
Influence of lifestyle, health history, contraceptive use, on stem cell quality
Ways to improve the sample collection process
Our study is IRB Approved (Protocol: Pro00088779) and designed to be simple, private, and respectful of your experience.
What we’re studying
Your participation directly contributes to making stem cell therapies more inclusive and accessible. Here's why this research is important:
Why This Research Matters
-
Traditional stem cell sources can be limited, expensive, or raise ethical concerns. Menstrual blood offers a renewable, non-invasive alternative that could democratize access to regenerative medicine.
-
This research puts menstrual and women's health at the center of scientific innovation. By participating, you're helping advance a field that has historically overlooked the unique biology and contributions of people who menstruate.
-
You're not just a data point — you're a partner in scientific discovery. This study is designed to be convenient, respectful of your time, and compensates you fairly for your contribution.
Must take a 5 minute health screening form.
A 10-15 minute hands-on sample collection (with 4-8 hours wearing the menstrual cup).
Must take a 2-5 minute feedback survey.
Must be within traveling distance of Frontier Tower.

Personal history of blood or clotting disorders or currently taking anticoagulants
Discomfort with or unwillingness to use a menstrual cup for collection
Known diagnosis of or recent exposure (within the past 12 months) to bloodborne infections such as HIV, Hepatitis B, or Hepatitis C
-
Fill out the eligibility form to confirm you qualify for the study
Select a pickup date and time to arrange your menstrual cup pickup at Frontier Tower (995 Market St, San Francisco, CA 94103)
Insert the menstrual cup for 4 to 8 hours on any day between the 1st and 3rd days of your period that is most convenient for you.
Come to the drop-off site wearing the cup during your scheduled sample drop-off time
Receive your compensation after completing the brief health form and feedback survey
-
We welcome participants with all types of menstrual cycles! Whether you have regular periods (every 21-35 days) or irregular cycles, you may be eligible. We believe categorizing "irregular" vs "regular" cycles limits our understanding of the full spectrum of menstrual experiences, so your cycle pattern does not affect your eligibility.
-
You may participate up to 9 times throughout the calendar year based on your interest and eligibility.
